The Next Generation Fund
At the heart of Second Ride is a commitment to the future of cycling. Every item we sell helps fund the next generation of riders, the talent coming through who need support to reach the top of the sport.
10% of every sale goes directly to two charities we believe in.
When you buy from Second Ride, you're doing two good things at once: keeping world-class kit out of landfill and putting money behind young riders chasing a career in the sport.
The charities we support:
Ride for Charlie Founded by Sarah and Nick Craig after the loss of their son Charlie to a cardiac condition, Ride for Charlie works alongside Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to screen young riders and catch heart conditions early. Proceeds from the charity also support promising cyclocross and MTB riders, helping them access European races and the higher levels of the sport that would otherwise be out of reach.
The Rayner Foundation Established in memory of Dave Rayner, a professional rider who tragically passed away at just 27, the Rayner Foundation supports 18- to 23-year-old British bike racers chasing a professional contract in Europe. It has helped more than 650 riders to date, with 99 of them going on to sign pro contracts. Without the Foundation, many of Britain's brightest cycling talents may never have reached the peloton.
Why this matters to us
We have seen first-hand what this support means to young riders. It feels like a full-circle moment to sell kit worn by some of the world's best, riders who themselves were once supported by charities like these, and channel proceeds back into the next wave coming through.
It is our way of making sure the sport we love keeps producing the riders we love watching.
